Court jail bus driver for stabbing LASTMA official with bottle

A Lagos State Mobile Court sitting in Oshodi has sentenced a commercial bus driver, Kenneth Anyanwu, to one-year imprisonment for stabbing an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Anyanwu reportedly stabbed Olanrewaju Yusuf with a broken bottle following a threat by Yusuf to arrest Anyanwu for picking passengers at undesignated bus stops between Obanikoro and Palm Grove in Lagos.

The account revealed that Anyanwu resisted arrest, and picked up a broken bottle, stabbed Yusuf in the palm.

Meanwhile, Magistrate F.O. Ikobayo in his ruling, convicted Anyanwu to one-year imprisonment or a fine of N50, 000 after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.

The magistrate also ordered the convict to pay N80, 000 for Yusuf’s medical bills.
