Man kills cousin who came for funeral, runs away in Imo
One Obinna Ozoemena has been declared wanted by the Imo State Commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, for allegedly killing his 31 years old cousin, Innocent Ekaeje.
The victim was said to have just arrived from Lagos for a burial ceremony in his family before he was allegedly murdered by Ozoemena.
Following the unfortunate incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Andrew Enwerem, while speaking on the episode noted that the CP had issued instruction that the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department should take over the case.
Enwerem said, “The victim and suspects are indigenes of Umunchi in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
“A formal complaint was lodged at the Ishiebu Police Division which is close to the scene of the incident.
“They both attacked themselves with cutlasses on Friday and were admitted at Ibezim Hospital, Mbano. Innocent Ukaeje was later referred to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri. We received the news on Sunday that Ekaeje had died.
“Our operatives went to the house to arrest the suspect, but he escaped.
“The CP has ordered a full investigation into the matter.”
